Christiane Fichtner - Biography

Born on 25 May 1974 in Esslingen. Is the younger of two sisters. Her father is a minister, her mother a homemaker

1980-1992 Attends school, graduates from secondary school with an "Abitur" (grade: 3, satisfactory)

July 1992 2-month stay in India (financed with graduation money from parents)

Fall 1992 Moves to Frankfurt am Main. Works several jobs, including work in survey institutes, catering and cleaning at Deutsche Bank, trade fairs and waitressing

October 1993 Starts studying art history and philosophy at the University of Frankfurt

November 1993 Marries Sven Gernzig, someone who always knows how to make the best of any situation (he's a con artist), after meeting him ?while working at a trade fair

May 1995 Drops studies after Sven is arrested for drug dealing and is sentenced to 18 months in prison

June 1995 Files for divorce (has an abortion in the 10th week), ?and has a nervous breakdown (stays in a clinic in Ems in Sauerland for two months)

October 1995 Returns to Esslingen and lives with parents (has no income of her own)

May 1996 Has a falling out with her family because she refuses to let her parents rule her life

July 1996 - January 1998 Moves often (Cologne, Berlin, Bremen, Frankfurt, Dresden).
Christiane Fichtner lives in shared apartments, works as a waitress and in call centers, and lives off of welfare

September 1998 Starts studying art in Dresden. Has first joint exhibits in galleries in Dresden and Leipzig (works: Gold to Coal - A Retreat (Gold zu Kohle - ein Rückzug), a series of photographs; blackwhiteblackblackblackforget (SchwarzWeißSchwarzSchwarzSchwarzVergesse), installation; I-tides (Ich-gezeiten), installation. C.F. doesn't find a mentor among the faculty in Dresden, and therefore she

January 1999 Moves to Bremen. Continues studies at the University of Arts in Bremen with Professor Rolf Thiele. She also studies psychotherapy and has been working with costumes at Bremen Theater since 2001

2004 Finishes studies. Christiane Fichtner has no criminal record. Christiane Fichtner lives in Bremen
